Kris Jenner is a grandma -- again! -- but what will Kim Kardashian's baby girl call her? The self-described "momager" probably won't add the word "grand" to the front of her telltale mom/manager title.
The "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star told People that while she tried to come up with "a really cool grandma name," for first grandchild, Mason, to call her, in the end she opted to stay traditional. "What am I trying to think up some crazy name for when I just wanna be a grandma?" she said. "I have so much admiration and love and respect for my grandmother, who I called 'grandma.' I want to be like my grandmother, I want someone to call me grandma. I earned this."
Other celeb grandmothers aren't quite so traditional, though, and some even refuse to be called "Grandma."
Goldie Hawn detailed the origins behind her grandmother name in her 2006 memoir, A Lotus Grows in the Mud: "The wonderful day arrived; my grandson, Ryder Russell, burst forth into this world. I could barely contain myself. But was I really a 'grandmother'… a word that had so many connotations of old age and decrepitude. My son Oliver decided I should be called 'Glam-Ma,' which I thought was quite brilliant and made us all laugh so hard."
On her daytime chat fest, Sharon Osbourne revealed what son Jack Osbourne's daughter, Pearl, would be calling her: "The baby's going to have to call me Shazza or Mrs O.," the "Talk" co-host declared. "In London, that's Sharon, the abbreviation is Shazza. They call you, 'Shazza.' 'Hello Shazza!'"
Comedian Joan Rivers came up with a doozy of a name for grandson Cooper to call her, but it didn't stick. Joan's daughter Melissa Rivers told Daily Mail, "He does call her Grandma, even though she wanted him to call her Nana New Face."
In 2012, lifestyle guru Martha Stewart told Access Hollywood that her grandchildren, Jude and Truman, know her as "Martha." Daughter Alexis announced the name on her radio show shortly after Jude's birth in 2011. "Martha is going to be called, 'Martha," Alexis revealed. "She seemed to have no problem with it… I was like, 'Do you really want to be 'Grandma'? I don't like the term grandma!"
Gwyneth Paltrow told talk show host Chelsea Handler that her mom, Blythe Danner, is too "hot" for an old lady name, so her kids call her Lalo. But at first, Danner tried to get the kids to call her Woof. "My mom's hot and she didn't want to be called Grandma," Paltrow said. "So she kept trying to make the Woof thing stick. It's even her e-mail address."
In an interview with eHarmony, Suzanne Somers dished on her grandkids and dropped her cute nickname: "My children and grandchildren are creative and contributing and love their Zannie (that's me)," she said.
In 2008, Priscilla Presley told Entertainment Tonight her daughter Lisa Marie's kids call her Nona. "It means 'grandma' in Italian," she said. "There's just such a connotation with Grandma, and I just liked it better. [Lisa Marie's children] say it so sweet."
And while Whoopi Goldberg became a grandmother at the very young age of 34, there's one name she's not taking. "The View" host told Daily Mail, "I made it clear that should the oldest one decide that was a good possibility that I would yank her tubes out with my bare hands. I accepted the grandmother thing in my 30s, but great grandchildren I'm not doing!"
