Should Khloe Kardashian Get the Ax From “X Factor”

Khloe Kardashian in 2009.

Considering it took Simon Cowell all of two seconds to fire Steve Jones as the host of "The X Factor" after its first season, it seems odd that there is even the slightest hesitation to cut Khloe Kardashian from the show's roster. There was no monumental spike in ratings from her presence, and she was a less than stellar host. Rumors are flying that the reality show star will not return for the struggling show's third season, but nothing has been confirmed. With the definitive answer still hanging in the balance, here is a debate for either outcome.

Why Save Her?

No one can argue that the Kardashian empire has a cult-like following, and their presence typically leads to more viewers and social media engagement. There's also the argument that "The X Factor" is a cold show among the crowded roster of singing competitions, and Khloe's less than polished performance gives the show a bit of humanness.

There's also the issue of her co-host, Mario Lopez, who got a free pass when compared with his female counterpart. While he has a dimpled smile and a perfect bod, he is no Ryan Seacrest. The somewhat fumbling work by Mrs. Lamar Odom made the "Extra" host look more competent and gives the illusion that the show is being well-run by a savvy lead host.

Finally, there's the case for a rookie needing time to grow into her role. While she's a mainstay in reality television, this was Khloe's first job at the hosting helm, one that is not easy to excel at with boss Simon Cowell staring at you while you try to find your way.

Why Ax Her?

Most viewers would likely argue that Khloe was a lousy host. Her awkward performance never improved as the season progressed and only reminded viewers that these shows don't require two hosts.

Khloe is to "X Factor" what Brian Dunkleman was to "American Idol" -- unnecessary. Factor in the show's failing ratings and a revolving door of judges (both L.A. Reid and Britney Spears are not returning next season), and there islittle to no reason to keep Khloe Kardashian around for season three. Unless the show can find a radically different role for her, similar to what Christina Milian does on "The Voice" -- a job which may prove too difficult for the youngest of the Kardashian sisters -- a pink slip should be sent to momager Kris Jenner.

Chances are this article won't remain relevant for long, as Khloe Kardashian's fate on "The X Factor" seems all but decided already. For this brief moment before any official announcements are made, share your thoughts and comments about what you think should be done on "The X Factor" and what fate you believe should be in Khloe Kardashian's future.
