Veteran journalist and new talk show host Katie Couric revealed her battle with bulimia during the Monday edition of "Katie." Couric was interviewing "The X Factor" judge - and admitted bulimic - Demi Lovato when she spilled the beans on her past eating disorder.

"I wrestled with bulimia all through college and for two years after that," Couric said while talking to eating disorder experts. "I know this rigidity, this feeling that if you eat one thing that's wrong, you're full of self-loathing and then you punish yourself."

Couric went on to reveal just how deep her self-loathing went.

"Whether it's one cookie or a stick of gum that isn't sugarless ... sometimes [I would] beat myself up for that," she added.

The perky newswoman is hardly the first - or sadly, the last - celeb to battle bulimia.

Demi Lovato

Lovato's honesty with her bulimia has inspired plenty of women to come out with their own struggles, including Couric. However, she's still battling her illnesses, despite seeking treatment in late 2010.

"I cannot tell you that I have not thrown up since treatment," she told a MTV audience in March. "I cannot tell you that I have not cut myself since treatment. I'm not perfect. This is a daily battle that I will face the rest of my life."

She's not hiding it, though - and that shows she's aware of the problem and actively trying to fix it.

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga is getting a lot of flack for her recent weight gain, but we hope her detractors will think twice about criticizing when they realize that she's battled bulimia.

"I used to throw up all the time in high school," Gaga revealed earlier this year. "So I'm not that confident. I wanted to be a skinny little ballerina, but I was a voluptuous little Italian girl whose dad had meatballs on the table every night."

Let's hope she's strong enough these days so she won't relapse.

Paula Abdul

Paula Abdul might be better known these days as a former judge on "American Idol" and "The X Factor," but back in the '90s she was a huge pop star with a big problem: Bulimia.

Abdul battled the eating disorder for 15 years and eventually sought treatment.

"I'd starve myself, then binge, then purge," she told People in 1995. "Whether I was sticking my head in the toilet or exercising for hours a day, I was spitting out the food - and the feelings."

Do you think it helps when celebrities come forward with their eating disorders?
