Prom season is in full swing for high schoolers - and students everywhere are busy trying to find a date. One gutsy high school senior, Jake Davidson, decided to ask Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Kate Upton to the prom via a YouTube video.

Her initial response?

"How could I turn down that video! I'll check my schedule ;)," she tweeted to the Los Angeles teen.

But, it looks like he'll have to make other arrangements: She's not going with him.

"I'm not sure if I'll be able to go with him or not, due to my schedule," Upton said in a statement. "I want to, but I just don't know if I can make it work. But I really appreciated being asked; it made me feel really great!"

She did pay him a great compliment, saying that a guy like him - with confidence and guts - is "attractive."

Poor guy. Maybe he should have asked these celebrities instead? They're the ones who were invited to a formal event - and accepted!

Justin Timberlake

Justin Timberlake seemed genuinely touched when Marine Corporal Kelsey De Santis invited him to the Marine Corps Ball in November 2011.

"I knew I would have an evening that I wouldn't forget... Something I could tell my friends about," he wrote in a blog post after the ball. "What I didn't know was how moved I would be by the whole experience."

But, that wasn't the end of their relationship. Timberlake later invited De Santis to attend Spike TV's 2012 Guy's Choice Awards with him in June 2012.

He even thanked her while accepting his award for Entertainer of the Year.

"He's a genuine person. There's no doubt in my mind [he deserves this award]," De Santis later said of her famous pal.

Mila Kunis

Timberlake's "Friends With Benefits" co-star Mila Kunis also received an invite to a 2011 Marine Corps Ball - and she also accepted. The 29-year-old actress went as the guest of Sgt. Scott Moore to the North Carolina event - and a good time was had by all.

"Everything went well. It was a great experience for everybody," Marina spokesperson Capt. Scott Sasser later told Access Hollywood.

And Sgt. Moore couldn't stop talking about her, either.

"[I was surprised] just how down to earth she was. She's just a normal person," he said, adding that she was interested in learning all about the Marines and the ball.

Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian was in serious need of good publicity when she accepted Marine Sergeant Martin Gardner's invitation to the Marine Corp Ball in November 2012.

Better yet? Kardashian surprised the Marine by flying to North Carolina for the event.

"Sgt Gardner told us he had invited Kim Kardashian, but we thought he was kidding, we never expected her to actually come," a fellow guest told Splash.

"We were amazed to see her."

She only stayed for two hours, but it's better than nothing, right?
