The dating life of "Dancing with the Stars" pro dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy has tongues wagging again, and this time the rumored object of his affection is a sizzling hot supermodel.
Us Weekly reported that the Ukrainian professional dancer was spotted with Sports Illustrated model Kate Upton earlier this week, for what was described as "an intimate meal" at Scalinatella in New York City. Sources said the two were set up through friends and were "very canoodly" as they dined at the upscale eatery.
But E! Online debunked the dating rumor, with sources saying that the two are "just good friends," while Scalinatella management confirmed the duo's dinner did "not look intimate at all."
Of course, things are not always what they seem when it comes to the hunky "DWTS" pro's dating life. While his relationships with fellow "DWTS" pros Karina Smirnoff and Peta Murgatroyd were no secret, other hookups had people speculating.
In 2011, after Maks was spotted in Las Vegas with "Dancing" pal Cheryl Burke, the relationship rumors swirled. While the two admitted to dancing and hanging out to celebrate her birthday (some sources described it as a "wild weekend" that included a make out session), Burke told People, "We have a good time. We've known each other since we were kids. We have that brother and sister relationship. I woke up to a lot of phone calls, but we're just friends."
Maks even tweeted "Enough with the rumors! Elvis is really dead, Loch Ness monster is a myth and Cheryl & I are just friends!"
In 2010, his flirty relationship with "DWTS" partner Erin Andrews also had people talking. When Us Weekly asked the dancer about his off-camera relationship with his celeb partner (the two were frequently spotted dining together -- at all hours), he joked, "We're married already! We're way past the point of anything else."
During an appearance on "Ellen," talk show host Ellen DeGeneres asked the duo if they were in a "hot" relationship. "It depends on what day you get us on," Andrews said, while her pro partner added, "We divorce every evening."
"At the end of the day, we rehearse, we meet up for breakfast, we go and practice, we get in a fight, we come back, we have lunch, we get in another fight, and in the evening you're like 'Please go away.' If that's hot, we're steaming," Chmerkovskiy said.
But in an interview with People, Andrews said, "Maks has seen every side of me. At some points, it's like we're dating; at others, it's like, oh, we so broke up two days ago. Now it's almost like we're past dating...now we're working on a kid!" (Wink, wink.)
As for his recent trip to New York that included that dinner with Upton, it may have taken wild horses to drag the pro dancer away, because he clearly didn't want to go. On June 11, Chmerkovskiy tweeted," Jet setting out of NY and find myself 'dragging feet'...Have to go, but don't want to leave."
Hmmm... is there a reason you wanted to stay, Maks?
