Kate Middleton

In case you didn't know by now, pregnant Kate Middleton is about to pop. Is Prince William nervous? Maybe, but it's the Duchess of Cambridge who's got to do the work. To reduce anxiety, she's studying Hypno-birthing. What the heck is that, you ask? "The birthing body and the baby know just what to do. Hypno-birthing is designed to teach women to trust in Nature's way of birth and to relax and let their bodies do what is needed," reports The Mongan Method. Apparently, Kate's been reading up on it and listening to CDs to get herself ready.

We'll be anxious to know how the royal-mom-to-be rates this unique birthing method. Which other celebs gave the old-fashioned ways the boot?

Kelly Preston - Silent Birth

Not only do women talk in the delivery room, they do a lot of screaming too. However, Kelly Preston, wife of fellow Scientologist John Travolta, did it the Scientology way. She had silent births. "The Last Song" actress, who is the mother of Jett, who died in 2009, Ella, and most recently, Benjamin, born in November 2010, gave birth by talking as little as possible. The belief is that bringing kids into the world in a quiet way gives them peaceful personalities.

Before she ditched Tom Cruise and the religion he adores Katie Holmes, 34, reportedly had a silent birth, too. Although little Suri, 7, is known for having temper tantrums, so we're not sure it worked.

Rachel Zoe - Glam Birth

In 2011, fashion stylist Rachel Zoe, 41, packed designer duds in her hospital bag, including stiletto boots, to film the birth of her son Skyler. After her water broke, she made sure her hair and makeup were camera ready. "The problem is, it's such an unglamorous experience that if you feel really unattractive, it makes it so much worse," said the glamorous Zoe.

Busy Philipps - D.I.Y. Birth

They say, "If you want it done right do it yourself." That's just what "Cougar Town"'s Busy Phillips, 33, did when she gave birth to daughter Birdie in 2008. "After my doctor got [Birdie's] head and shoulders out, she asked, 'Do you want to pull your baby out? Give me your hands.'" said Philipps. "I didn't even know my midwife took a picture of me with my hands pulling my daughter out. It was an incredible experience." Birdie will soon become a big sister, because Busy and hubby Marc Silverstein are expecting another daughter.

Gisele Bundchen - Bathtub Birth

Who says you have to give birth in a bed? In 2009, Gisele Bundchen, 32, Tom Brady's supermodel Brazilian wife and mother of two, delivered son Benjamin in the bathtub. "My delivery was in a bathtub," said Bundchen. "I wanted to be very aware and present during the birth. I didn't want to be drugged up." Benjamin is the big brother to Vivian, born in 2012.
