Dancing pro Karina Smirnoff will be back on "DWTS" this year.

It seemed like Karina Smirnoff was set to have a great 2012. She is the current champion of "Dancing with the Stars" after winning her first mirror ball with celeb partner J.R. Martinez last season. She previously came close to winning in Season 3. Now news has circulated that Smirnoff is attached to actor Owen Wilson after his split with Jade Duell. Before getting your hopes up, it appears that the rumors are false, with recent reports by both that they are just friends.

It's very easy for fans of the "Dancing" pro to believe she had found a new beau, especially given her previous track record. Here is a look at some of Smirnoff's more prolific relationships.

Mario Lopez

Karina Smirnoff mixed business and pleasure in 2006, when she began dating celebrity partner Mario Lopez. The duo showed great chemistry on the dance floor, eventually placing in second behind Emmitt Smith and Cheryl Burke. The "Saved by the Bell" actor and Smirnoff dated for 2 years, and later became engaged. After the break-up, the current "Dancing with the Stars" champion appeared on "Chelsea Lately," where she discussed the relationship and break-up in more detail, suggesting that perhaps Lopez was not as faithful as he could have been.

Maksim Chmerkovskiy

Smirnoff moved on quickly and in six months she began dating fellow pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy. The pair got engaged on New Years Eve in 2008, with Smirnoff hoping to get the fairytale experience. Unfortunately, the "Dancing" pair split a year later, and like most celebrities, turned to Twitter to express their feelings. Wrote Chmerkovskiy, "What was meant to be a 'life long book', turned into a 'chapter'.......and now that 'chapter' is finished...... Se la vie."

Brad Penny

Later in 2009, Smirnoff found love again with pro baseball player Brad Penny and was engaged again. The two eventually postponed their wedding, citing conflicting schedules, before finally calling it quits. The couple wanted to spend more time together, though friends close to Smirnoff allegedly doubted that they would make it all the way to aisle.

Do you think Karina Smirnoff and Owen Wilson would have made a good couple?
