Justin Bieber Gets Another Tattoo - How His Faith Inspires His Body Art

At the young age of 18 it's clear that our favorite teen star Justin Bieber has a penchant for getting inked. The Biebs debuted a new tattoo recently while traveling through LAX, a small Japanese symbol meaning "music" on his upper left forearm.

The tattoo is just one of many for the star. Bieber started getting tattoo fever after his first tat, a flying seagull on his hip, inspired by a fable written by Richard Bach that tells the tale of a seagull learning to fly and learning about life during the difficult process. Beiber, who first got inked at 16, says the tattoo was a rite of passage and a family ritual, but it was also a way for him to express his philosophical views.

In January of this year Biebs showed off another new tattoo, an image of the face of Jesus, on the back of his left leg. The young millionaire is a proud Christian, talking about it openly in his interviews and discussing not only his beliefs but what he hopes his fame will do for his young fans.

"I have an obligation to plant little seeds with my fans. I'm not going to tell them, 'You need Jesus,' but I will say at the end of my show, 'God loves you,'" he told Rolling Stone earlier this year.

Although some fans aren't crazy about Bieber covering his body in tattoos, there are many that appreciate his willingness to display his religious beliefs on his body through these different visual images.

Last year Bieber put the Hebrew name of Jesus on his chest close to the same time he visited the country of Israel. His father has a matching tattoo.

"I'm a Christian; I believe in God, I believe that Jesus died on a cross for my sins. I believe that I have a relationship and I'm able to talk to Him and really, He's the reason I'm here, so I definitely have to remember that," the singer said in the past.

By covering his body in Christian inspired art and messages the singer says it helps him stay connected to his faith.

"I pray throughout the day," Bieber said last fall. " Sometimes it's hard, because I get caught up in what I'm doing. But if I forget, I try to remind myself why I'm here. "
