"Last year it was definitely very crazy because Whitney passed," Jordin Sparks, who starred with Whitney in "Sparkle," told Access Hollywood at the event. "I was on my way here when I got the news and it was very crazy."

Jordin said her memories of a year ago made her think hard about coming to Clive's bash on Saturday, but she chose to go to honor her friend.

"I went back and forth on whether I was gonna be here tonight, but I know that she would want us all to have a good time and to be happy and to celebrate music because she loved it," Jordin said. "So, I'm honoring her in that way by being here because she was a part of this for so long."
