John Stamos Checks Into Rehab, Drops Out of Emmy Gig

John Stamos is opening up about his recent rehab stint. The 52-year-old actor checked into rehab in July for substance abuse a few weeks after getting arrested in Beverly Hills on suspicion of DUI. Stamos, who has since returned to work on his new Fox comedy Grandfathered and Netflix’s Full House revival, got candid with Details about the past couple of months. “I’ve had a rough year with my mom dying, so it all came to a head, and it was a turning point,” Stamos told the magazine for its October issue. WATCH: John Stamos Is Out of Rehab and Looking Incredible The actor admitted that he had to change the trajectory of his journey if he was going to be healthy and happy. “You either continue on that path – and some of it’s fun, but a lot of it’s not – or there’s this other thing, this golden opportunity sitting there with all this work and all this goodwill that you have going for you,” he said. “That’s the key. I feel better than I’ve felt in a decade,” Stamos added. It’s the first time Stamos has really addressed his month-long stay in rehab. He announced his return on Twitter in late July after completing treatment, tweeting at the time, “I’m back! Took a month to take care of things. Healthy. Feeling grateful for the love & support of family & friends.” WATCH: Candace Cameron Bure Reacts to John Stamos in Rehab That same month, while Stamos was in rehab , Fuller House co-star Candace Cameron Bure showed her support for her TV uncle. “I love him. We love him,” she told ET. “And if this is what he needs, to spend time to get things together, we’re all supportive and glad he’s there and know that things will be good when he comes back. I support him, and we’ll support him.” In August, ET was on the Grandfathered set with Stamos, where he celebrated his 52nd birthday with baklava and a special performance of “Livin’ on a Prayer” by Richie Sambora. Hours after bowing out of an Emmy Awards nominations co-hosting gig, John Stamos has checked into rehab for substance abuse.
Last month, the 51-year-old actor was arrested in Beverly Hills on suspicion of DUI. His court date for the incident had been scheduled for September 11.
