John Mayer may be a musical prodigy but he seems to have a short memory. The bad boy of music is back on the Hollywood scene and kicking off a controversy already. He originally went on hiatus to re-examine his life. He explains, "I was going through a time in my life where I didn't really want to share what was going on, but I didn't want to be boring." His fear of being boring gave him a reputation as one of the most callous guys in the industry.
Now Mayer is singing a new tune as he makes his way around the magazine and talk show circuit. The guitar playing bachelor feels that Taylor Swift used her guitar as a weapon against him, hurting his feelings. This from the man who recently admitted that he used E.L. Grey's popular erotic novel "50 Shades of Grey" to hit on a woman.
The ladies man opened up to Rolling Stone Magazine about how Swift's hit song "Dear John" made him feel. The two were a weird coupling to begin with as young Taylor is the music industry's consummate "he did me wrong" good girl. However, John is known for mouthing off about former lovers in interviews and Swift is known for getting "kiss and tell" revenge in her tunes.
Taylor's song "Dear John" was long rumored to be about dating Mayer. The track's biting lyrics include the words, "It was wrong / Don't you think nineteen's too young / To be played / By your dark, twisted games / When I loved you so." Clearly, Taylor agrees with the mantra that revenge is a dish best served cold! The blonde starlet may look like rainbows and lollipops but Taylor can hold her own.
Mayer took issue with the fact that Taylor never gave him a heads up about the song. He says, "I never got an email. I never got a phone call. I was really caught off-guard." He further explains, "And it really humiliated me at a time when I'd already been dressed down. I mean, how would you feel if, at the lowest you've ever been, someone kicked you even lower?" Mayer goes on to describe the award-winning country singer's hit as "cheap" songwriting.
The talented musician must have forgotten about all of the women that he "humiliated" with his over-sharing and snarky comments.
Flashback to Some of John's TMI Gems:
On Jessica Simpson.
Sex with Jessica in 2006 was apparently explosive and addictive. He spoke frankly about their encounters saying, "That girl, for me, is a drug. And drugs aren't good for you if you do lots of them. Yeah, that girl is like crack cocaine to me… Sexually it was crazy. That's all I'll say. It was like napalm, sexual napalm." He has since admitted regretting the statement.
On Kerry Washington.
Some people claim that we're living in post-racial America. Mayer is proof to the contrary. He angered many when he compared his penis to the Ku Klux Klan. About sex with African American women the crooner said, "I don't think I open myself to it. My d*k is sort of like a white supremacist. I've got a Benetton heart and a f*n' David Duke c*k. I'm going to start dating separately from my d*k.… And Kerry Washington. She's super hot and she's also white-girl crazy. Kerry Washington would break your heart like a white girl." He admitted to also having a crush on Holly Robinson Peete.
On Jennifer Aniston.
As for Jen, Mayer says that he was the one who dumped America's sweetheart. He then tried to pay the "Friends" star a compliment by insisting that she is "the most communicative, sweetest, kindest person."
So, what do you think about Mayer feeling "humiliated" by T. Swift?
Is a man who kisses and tells fair game?
