Jessica Chastain

Jessica Chastain is the 35-year-old redhead who got lots of attention for her role as Celia Foote, the spirited socialite and outcast, in "The Help." The actress is nominated for a Best Actress Golden Globe for her role as Maya in "Zero Dark Thirty." What are five facts about her?

"Zero Dark Thirty" was a challenge for Chastain

One may not expect the woman who played feisty, tight-dress wearing Celia to play a far different role as in the action thriller "Zero Dark Thirty" about the hunt for Osama bin Laden. The actress was forced to be "unemotional" and "analytical, precise," and she said the role was "the hardest thing I've ever done."

"The Help" actress has become too busy to shop for herself

As Chastain gains more and more popularity, particularly with her red carpet events for "Zero Dark Thirty," she has less and less time to shop for herself. However, hiring a personal shopper wasn't top on her list. "I love clothes shopping, but it's not possible when doing promotional tours," said the actress.

Dating fellow actors is a no-no for the actress

When the beautiful star goes out on a date, she doesn't want to talk shop. Therefore, dating fellow actors is not her desire. "I realized I wanted just to be able to hang out with someone . . . And I didn't want to talk about the business, first of all. I love movies. But I love talking about them like when I was 15 years old. I'm a film fan, but I don't want to talk about auditions or what movie I'm gonna do. I find that so boring," she said.

She owns a three-legged terrier named Chaplin

The animal lover has been seen walking her three-legged terrier Chaplin around town. She is also the owner of two additional rescue dogs. It's no surprise that Chastain is a vegan. "I don't want to torture anything. It's about trying to live a life where I'm not contributing to the cruelty in the world. While I am on this planet, I want everyone I meet to know that I am grateful they are here."

The star has never had a hangover

In Hollywood, reports of actors and actresses drinking too much and getting into trouble are commonplace. They may not have a rap sheet as long as Lindsey Lohan's, but such stories don't surprise us. However, Jessica reports that there is none of that in her life. A Julliard student, it was instilled in her to act professionally to avoid getting kicked out of the school. Therefore, although she drinks on occasion, she never got drunk enough to have a hangover. "I'm not a fun person. Not back then anyway. I had wanted to be an actor my whole life and when I was at Juilliard they had a cutting policy," she said. "Even if you showed up to all your classes if the teachers thought you weren't good enough they could still cut you. I just wasn't going to let them send me home."
