Jessica and Ashlee Simpson make first joint appearance since parents split

What rumors? Jessica Simpson, 32, and her younger sister Ashlee, 29, were all smiles over the weekend as they made their first joint public appearance since it was revealed that their parents Joe and Tina Simpson would be divorcing after 34 years together on October 24. Making matters worse for the sisters, as well as the entire Simpson clan, is the fact that the news of the split came out the same week as a National Enquirer story alleging that former pastor Joe is gay, and had recently come out to his family. A rep for the Simpsons swiftly shot down the report, but it didn't help matters when it was revealed that Tina cited "discord or conflict of personalities" as the reason for the divorce in court papers, instead of the usual "irreconcilable differences."

Still, Jessica and Ashlee made it seem like they didn't have a care in the world as they promoted their joint fashion line for teens, Jessica Simpson Girls, at Macy's in Costa Mesa, California, on Saturday. Jess, who showed off the 60-pound weight loss she's achieved after giving birth to her daughter Maxwell in May, donned a long, sheer navy top and flattering black pants. Despite her svelte finger, Jessica’s goal is to lose 10 pounds more by sticking with her routine of a Weight Watchers diet and workouts four times a week with trainer Harley Pasternak, the same guru who's worked with with Rihanna, Jennifer Hudson, and Megan Fox.

Ashlee, who is mom to 4-year-old Bronx and is currently dating “Boardwalk Empire” star Vincent Piazza, sported a pompadour with some printed pants, a black top, and metallic jewelry, which combined gave her a rock 'n' roll vibe. That should come in handy, since the "Pieces of Me" singer is attempting to make another foray into music this month, her first since 2008. Her new single, "Bat for a Heart," and its accompanying video are set to be released November 21.
