Most guys would love to get paid for kissing Jennifer Lawrence, but Josh Hutcherson probably felt a little grossed out after making out with his sexy "Catching Fire" co-star.
According to MTV News, J-Law and J-Hutch revealed the dirty details behind their kissing scene during a panel at San Diego Comic-Con. Josh said of the sloppy smooch, "In the resuscitation there was a kiss and there was slobber, and the slobber sort of got connected to my face. It will be very hot." However, Jen stepped in to clarify that the substance dribbling on Josh wasn't slobber -- it was snot. "You gotta see it," Jennifer said of the clip that probably won't make the movie's final cut. "There's all this snot coming out of my nose, and when I go to kiss Josh, it connects with his mouth." Forget "Catching Fire" -- it sounds like Josh was in danger of catching a nasty cold.
Josh Hutcherson isn't the only star who has shared a not-so-steamy smooch with Jennifer Lawrence. The actress might be okay with using a guy's face as a tissue, but according to Bradley Cooper, his "Silver Linings Playbook" co-star does not tolerate actors who get too drooly during kissing scenes. According to Metro, here's what Brad said about Jen's kissing scene complaint during an interview with Graham Norton: "After the second take she [Lawrence] said, "You're a wet kisser." You don't want to hear that. It was not a compliment." Since Jen's so awesome, it's really hard to call her out for being a hypocrite here.
At least Lawrence isn't the only Hollywood heartbreaker who has powered through a kissing scene with a snotty nose. This is what Robert Pattinson said about grossing Reese Witherspoon out during their "Water for Elephants" smooch: "I was doing it when I had a really bad cold. My nose is running all over the place, and it was in one of the additional photography scenes, and Reese had this wig on, and literally, I was wiping my nose on her wig." Reese tried to be kind by simply calling the experience "not pleasant."
Not all awkward kissing scenes are caused by the presence of unwanted bodily fluids. During another Comic-Con panel, Chris Evans actually claimed that he didn't enjoy making out with his "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" co-star Scarlett Johansson. He said he said it was like kissing his sister because he's known Scarlett for over a decade (they costarred in the 2002 movie "Perfect Score").
Kirsten Dunst said something similar about smooching Brad Pitt in "Interview with the Vampire." According to Wonderwall, she made this complaint about kissing one of the sexiest men in the world at age 11: "It was horrible, and I hated it. Brad and Tom were like my big brothers on the set, so it was like kissing your big brother -- totally gross! He said, 'How do you think I feel? I have to kiss a little girl.' It was awful!" She later told Bullett magazine, "Everyone at the time was like, 'You're so lucky you kissed Brad Pitt,' but I thought it was disgusting.'" The experience must have been rather traumatizing, because the actress didn't kiss anyone again until age 16.
However, it will be hard for any star to ever top Megan Fox's kissing scene horror story. During a 2009 interview with GQ magazine, here's what she said about one of her worst movie experiences: "This one kid I had to kiss had just eaten. And he passed a piece of whatever it was [from his mouth to hers]. I swear to God. Not on purpose. Like it was in his tooth or something? And it was really salty. I'm not making this up. I almost cried."
You hear that, guys? Be sure to floss before you make out with Megan Fox. And be sure to bring a box of tissues along if you ever get to swap spit with J-Law.
