Jennie Garth can’t reach former co-star Amanda Bynes: ‘I love her dearly’

Six years after playing Amanda Bynes' big sister on the WB series “What I Like About You,” Jennie Garth is still acting out that role. The newly single actress revealed on the red carpet Monday night that she has been trying to get in contact with her former co-star ever since her public meltdown began earlier this year, but “I haven’t been able to reach her,” Garth told Us Weekly. “My heart feels for whatever she is going through and I love her dearly."

Garth, 40, isn’t the only person the 26-year-old has shut out. Bynes fled to New York City in late September immediately after her parents uprooted their lives in Texas and moved to Los Angeles to be close to their very troubled daughter. It’s unclear if they followed her to the Big Apple. Although Bynes has not been photographed for a few weeks, early images of her in NYC showed her wandering the streets alone. On September 26, she locked herself in a bathroom at Little Cupcake Bakeshop in SoHo for 30 minutes and ignored the pleas from a concerned patron who happened to be a NYC firefighter. When Bynes finally emerged – after he threatened to break the door down – she simply said she had been fixing her makeup.

Meanwhile, back in Los Angeles on Monday, her attorney Robert J. Wilson entered a plea of not guilty for the two counts of driving without a license she was charged with last month. Bynes is also fighting a DUI charge (she plead not guilty in June), as well as two counts of hit-and-run, for which she also plead not guilty.
