Actor Jason Segel is riding a big wave of career momentum that seems to be leaking into his personal life too. He and "My Week With Marilyn" star Michelle Williams have gone very public with their blossoming relationship, and apparently the "L" word is now being used by both Segel and Williams. Segel was seen carrying his cell phone and the back of it had pictures of the actress taped to it with the message "I Love You" scrawled next to them. The feeling is mutual, because according to an Us Weekly article, a source told them that Williams has declared her love for her new beau.

Jason's been seeing his star rise steadily since he made a small but memorable appearance in "Knocked Up" as one of Seth Rogen's friends. He'd already been starring on the CBS sitcom "How I Met Your Mother" for a couple of years, but his scene-stealing turn in the film pushed his career forward. When "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," a comedy he wrote and starred in with Kristen Bell and Mila Kunis, came out Jason planted himself firmly in the discussion of up and coming comedic film actors.

The positive direction of his career seemed to culminate with his work on the 2011 box office hit "The Muppets." Segel co-wrote and starred in the family friend hit that helped put Jim Henson's lovable creatures back on the map. So what's next for the funny man?

He Won't Be Writing the Muppets Follow-Up - In a bit of a disappointing development, Jason has said that he won't be involved in writing the next Muppets film. The good news is that Nick Stoller, one of the last films writers, is working on it though. According to Segel in an interview with "Access Hollywood," after working on the film for five years, "I just wanted to restore The Muppets to The Muppets I grew up with and give them a platform to do everything that they want to do." He certainly did that. No word on whether he'll make an appearance in the next film.

Starring in "The Five Year Engagement" - Jason's new film is being released later this month. It stars Segel, Emily Blunt, Chris Pratt and Alison Brie in a romantic comedy about a long lasting engagement and the toll it takes on both the couple and their friends. Like "The Muppets," this film was written by Jason and Stoller, though the subject matter is decidedly much more grown up. One thing is for sure, another hit with this film would put Segel into many discussions of the best screenwriters of his generation.

Possibly Wrapping Up His Sitcom Next Year - "How I Met Your Mother" is renewed until 2013, and by all accounts that will signal the end of the long-running sitcom. It put Segel on the map and rebooted the career of Neil Patrick Harris. With Jason and Neil's stars back on the rise, the reality of the situation is that CBS probably wouldn't be able to pay either of them enough to stay with the sitcom any longer, since both stars have been making more and more films of late.
