Janet Jackson

Jaws dropped when R&B/pop legend Janet Jackson revealed that she was actually married (not just engaged) to billionaire sweetheart Wissam Al Mana. On Monday the lovebirds confirmed that they wed last year in what they described as a "quiet, private, and beautiful" ceremony. Private it was indeed. It should come as no surprise that Janet and her hubby chose to evade prying eyes: Hush-hush weddings are becoming quite a trend with celebrities. Here are some other quiet, private ceremonies we've missed…

Christina Applegate and Martyn LeNoble

While fans contemplated Applegate's departure from floundering sitcom "Up All Night," the "Married with Children" star was probably planning her secret nuptials. On February 23, she and rocker Martyn LeNoble slipped under the cover of Oscar frenzy and stole away for a quiet wedding. The two have been dating since 2008 and welcomed a daughter in 2011.

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively

Plenty of speculation followed one of Hollywood's most gorgeous couples, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively. The "Green Lantern" co-stars first stirred stories of romance in 2011. By September the buzz had grown into wedding rumors. Those rumors were confirmed on September 9 when we learned that the pair had tied the knot at Boone Hall Plantation in South Carolina.

Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson

Ryan must have a thing for secret weddings, because he also exchanged private vows with his first wife, Scarlett Johansson, in 2008. Instead of a grand antebellum affair, the two escaped to a "very remote part of Canada" for their special day. Alas, the secrecy must have taken a toll on the romance; their marriage ended in 2010 when Reynolds filed for divorce.

Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied

We got an eyeful of baby bump around the same time Natalie Portman confirmed her engagement to " Black Swan " choreographer Benjamin Millepied. Then rumors swirled that the artistic pair may have secretly tied the knot. By the summer of 2012, it became evident that the dancing lovebirds had much more to celebrate than their bouncing baby boy, Aleph. Millepied and Portman wed in a Jewish ceremony in August of that year.

Kate Winslet and Ned Rocknroll

There's probably little that Academy Award winner Kate Winslet could do to surprise the world. During a visit to Necker Island in the summer of 2011, the "Titanic" heroine broke up with her former beau, saved Richard Branson's grandmother from a fire, and met the love of her life - a space traveler named Ned Rocknroll. Slipping away from the public to wed her Virgin Galactic tycoon in New York in December 2012 was simply par for the course.
