'Jane the Virgin' Boss Reveals New Details on Britney Spears' Guest Role: 'There's Music in the Episode'

Oh baby, baby -- we've got exclusive new details on Britney Spears' guest role on Jane the Virgin!

ETonline was on the show’s Hotel Marbella set on Tuesday to attend the season two premiere table read -- the episode is amazing, by the way! -- and we caught up with Jane the Virgin showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman to get the scoop on the music icon's "exaggerated" and music-related role.

"We've got Britney Spears!" Urman gushed with a smile to ETonline. "We're just so excited, and I'm still freaking out."

NEWS: Britney Spears Is Set to Guest Star on 'Jane the Virgin'!

So how did the CW comedy land such a high-profile guest star? Twitter, of course!

"I was reading Twitter and I started seeing 'Britney Spears loves Jane the Virgin!' tweets," Urman explained. "And I was like, 'What?!' I started seeing it and then someone gave me a People magazine and I saw it there in print."

After learning of their mutual admiration, Urman quickly put Spears on the top of their guest star wish-list.

"We just thought, 'Oh my god! If we could get her, that would be amazing,'" she spilled. "But we wanted to come up with a great story first of what we would want her to do in the show so that it felt like it fit in with the world."

Urman and her team of writers put together a pitch that centered on Spears playing Rogelio’s "archnemesis" and it was a hit with the mother of two. "She loved it," Urman confirmed.

The executive producer dished that Spears will be playing an "exaggerated version" of herself in episode five of season two. "It's in the same sprit of when Paulina Rubio came on [to the show in season one]," she said. "It was still Paulina Rubio, but it was a fictionalized Jane the Virgin version."

Although this is Spears' debut on the fan-favorite series, this won't be the first time the pop star has been mentioned on the show. "[Rogelio] has sort of alluded to [their rivalry]," Urman teased. "In season one, it was just a coincidence, but when he was selling [the idea of] his own Las Vegas residency, he said, 'It's just like Britney Spears' Las Vegas residency, but mine's only one night.'"

"And so we always had it in the back of our minds, " The showrunner continued, "They have this backstory that is going to be revealed of how they became nemesis-es -- nemisi? -- and we'll get into all of that."

And for the biggest question of them all: Could this be Jane the Virgin's first musical episode starring Spears? "It's not a full musical but it has -- aghhh! How much can I give away without spoiling it?" Urman said with a laugh. "It's going to be fun! There is music in the episode, yes."

Be still our Britney-loving hearts…

Season two of Jane the Virgin premieres Monday, Oct. 12 on The CW.
