'Independence Day 2': New Title and Details Revealed!

It's a resurgence of independence!

Independence Day Resurgence is the official title for the highly anticipated follow-up to 1996's Independence Day. The film will revolve around the nations of Earth working together to create a defense program to protect the planet, which will, once again, be under attack by aliens.

And you can expect the cast to be star-studded! Although Will Smith is not returning, Bill Pullman (President Thomas Whitmore), Jeff Goldblum (David Levinson), Vivica Fox (Jasmine) and Brent Spiner (Dr. Brackish Okun) will all be back.

Liam Hemsworth, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe, Judd Hirsch, Sela Ward and Charlotte Gainsbourg have also been cast in the sequel.

Dean Devlin, who produced the original film, is also producing this time around as well, and shared this snap on Twitter so that we can meet the cast.

Independence Day Resurgence is set to hit theaters on June 24, 2016.
