Heidi Klum Cancels Halloween Bash Due to Storm

Heidi Klum is canceling her hugely popular annual Halloween costume party in the wake of the massive storm Sandy that tore through the Northeast on Monday, bringing high winds and flooding rains.

Klum's high-profile New York-based Halloween bash is always attended by numerous celebrities and is known for showcasing some of the year's edgiest and most elaborate costumes.

In a statement provided to ET on Tuesday, the supermodel and TV producer offered sympathy to those affected by Sandy -- which started out as a Category 1 hurricane -- and expressed hope that the party can be held at a later date.

"I hope you & your loved ones are safe after this devastating storm in the New York City area. For obvious reasons, I am canceling my Halloween party scheduled for tomorrow night. I hope to postpone for the near future... maybe a very Haunted Christmas? I hope everyone understands and stays safe."

Several New York-based TV and movie productions were shut down Monday as the storm intensified -- including Comedy Central's The Daily Show with John Stewart and Stephen Colbert's The Colbert Report. Jimmy Kimmel Live! also canceled its Monday taping in New York, but was planning to resume taping for Tuesday's show.

Both NBC's Today show and ABC's Good Morning America announced cancellations of their Halloween-themed shows on Wednesday to provide full coverage of the storm's aftermath. Bruce Springsteen canceled a concert that was planned for Tuesday night at Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, NY, but the concert has been rescheduled for Wednesday night.
