Hannah Marks' 'Necessary' Travel Playlist

Hannah Marks' 'Necessary' Travel Playlist

As Lindsay Santino, Dr. Dani's rebellious teenage daughter on Necessary Roughness, Hannah Marks has scoffed at her mother and popped in some music to drown out her demands a million times. Now you can find out what's blaring inside those earbuds as Hannah reveals to TheInsider.com her Totally Necessary Travel Playlist!

1. Lady Grinning Soul – David Bowie
This song to me is very cinematic and epic. David Bowie has my heart and I could listen to this song over and over again and find new reasons to like it.

2. Lust for Life – Iggy Pop
Lust for Life is so upbeat and is great to listen to while traveling to get you excited for wherever you are going to go. I first heard this song while watching one of my favorite films, Trainspotting.

3. I Wanna Be Your Dog – The Stooges
“And now I’m ready to feel your hand, and lose my heart on the burning sands” I Wanna Be Your Dog has very few lyrics, but each line is incredible, not to mention it has such an amazing build.

4. Superstar – Sonic Youth
This song makes me reminisce; something about it feels so relatable. I find it very unique and it expresses many complicated emotions about love.

5. Pretty Vacant – Sex Pistols
I just made a short film to this song. I only used about 40 seconds, but it’s a great song to put to a video because it feels like classic rock.

6. Height Down – John Frusciante feat. River Phoenix
My first real boyfriend sent me this song years ago, and I still listen to it all the time. River Phoenix was an amazing talent; if he was alive today I am positive he would have made even more inspiring work.

7. Where is my Mind? – Pixies
I have this song on my travel playlists always. I listened to this song on my iPod while I was doing a summer camp, I played it on repeat on different trains.

8. As Far As I Can See – Phantogram
Phantogram is one of the more recent artists that I listen to. I know they were really inspired by Bowie and Sonic Youth, so it makes sense that I love them. I have been fortunate enough to hear them live at Coachella Music Festival.

9. A Real Hero – College feat. Electric Youth
I first heard this song while watching Nicolas Winding Refn's film Drive. That entire soundtrack made me want to become a director so I could put rad music to my films. This was my favorite track, the unique female vocals make the song very addicting.

10. How Soon is Now? – The Smiths
"I am the sun. I am the air. I go about things the wrong way. I am human and I need to be loved, just like everybody else does." This is another song that has brilliant lyrics, you can always count on The Smiths.

11. Perfect Day – Lou Reed
Lou Reed is one of my favorite artists of all time. It’s hard to just pick one Lou Reed song to put on this list, but right now I’ve been listening to Perfect Day.

Necessary Roughness airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. on USA.
