(Halle Berry)

Halle Berry is pregnant! The 46-year old actress recently revealed that her unexpected pregnancy has been "the biggest surprise" of her life, telling CNN, "I thought I was kind of past the point where this could be a reality for me. So it's been a big surprise and the most wonderful." And the Academy Award winner had no regrets on waiting to have her first child, Nahla, at age 41.

"I'm a much better mother at 46, or 41 when I had her, than if I were 21 or 25," the Oscar winner said during an appearance last fall on Wendy Williams' talk show. "I was just a little baby, just trying to figure it out, trying to figure out who I was, let alone have the responsibility of trying to help another little soul develop and grow. I'm so glad I waited."

Of course, Halle's not the only Hollywood mom who waited until she was in her late 40s -- or even early 50s -- to to have a baby. Check out these celeb moms who had babies after age 45.

Kelly Preston - age 47

Nearly two years after their teen son Jett's sudden death, actress Kelly Preston and her husband John Travolta welcomed the arrival of baby Benjamin Hunter Kaleo Travolta. Kelly was 47 years old when she gave birth to the baby, and she later told Us Weekly his birth gave her a new perspective on motherhood. She later gave up drinking and smoking to be a better mom.

"It's different in that I'm so much wiser. I know myself so much more now," she said. "For me, I find that our kids came in half the time to teach me about myself and to help me with others, and they have helped me so extraordinarily."

Holly Hunter - age 47

In 2006, actress Holly Hunter became a first-time mom when she gave birth to twin boys at age 47, but she's been mum about the details -- including the boys' names. While the twins are believed to be named Press and Claude, the Academy Award winning actress doesn't discuss her sons with the media, and in a 2009 red carpet interview Hunter told Lisa Rinna, "I kind of don't talk about [the twins.] I have them, they're stashed away." The boys' father is Hunter's longtime partner Gordon MacDonald.

Geena Davis - age 48

In 2004, actress Geena Davis gave birth to twin boys Kian William and Kaiis Steven, two years after the birth of daughter Alizeh. The actress told Good Housekeeping she saw later-in-life motherhood as an advantage.

"I felt 100 percent that I would be such a better parent than I would have been even five years earlier and certainly ten or 20 years earlier," she said. "If I'd had kids earlier, I could easily have become one of those mothers who over-involve themselves and try to live life through their kids. I'm sure there are younger people who have figured things out long before I did, but in my case, I became a parent with exactly the right person, at exactly the right time." Davis' husband is plastic surgeon Reza Jarrahy.

Beverly D'Angelo - age 49

National Lampoon "Vacation" star Beverly D'Angelo was 49 years old (and her then-partner Al Pacino was 60!) when she gave birth to twins Anton and Olivia Pacino in 2001. The twins were the first children for D'Angelo, and according to People, pal Chevy Chase joked, "I was hoping I she'd name them Rusty and Audrey," the names of their kids in the "Vacation" movie franchise.

Adrienne Barbeau - age 51

"Maude" star Adrienne Barbeau told People that her 1997 pregnancy (at age 51) with identical twin sons William Dalton and Walker Steven went smoothly, aside from an exhausting first few weeks and preterm labor. After the twins' birth the actress said, "I do have a lot of energy now. And being older, I'm calmer and more relaxed." The onetime sex symbol is said to have joked that she was the only woman on the maternity ward who was a member of AARP.
