Gwyneth Paltrow is the Most Beautiful Woman Alive!

The Academy Award winner snagged the title of People magazine's 2013 Most Beautiful Woman out of the claws of up-and-coming stars like Kerry Washington and Jennifer Lawrence. While she is a gorgeous gal, there were plenty of other items that worked into the decision to garner Paltrow the coveted annual title.

Here are some of the reasons Gwyneth was named Most Beautiful Woman:

Family First: The Oscar winner has learned how to balance the rigors of Hollywood stardom with the needs of her family, including daughter Apple, 8, and Moses, 7. She says, "Around the house, I'm in jeans and a T-shirt. I don't really wear makeup. That's what they're used to."

Red Carpet Ready: When it's time to get dolled up for the red carpet the star knows how to shed the casual look and put her best foot forward. According to Gwynie, her husband, Chris Martin, can always be counted on to joke about her stunning looks. "He'll make a joke about it. If I've gotten fully dressed up, he'll be like, 'Oh wow! You're Gwyneth Paltrow! Because he's used to seeing me in like baggy shorts and frizzy hair."

Multi-Faceted: Yes, she has an Oscar. Yes, she has been in a long string of hit movies including the upcoming "Iron Man 3." She also recently released her second cookbook, "It's All Good," which debuted at number one on the New York Times bestseller list and her online lifestyle newsletter "GOOP" arrives weekly in millions of in-boxes.

That Body: The mom-of-two knows how to maintain her youthful physique and credits the Tracey Anderson Method for keeping her looking good. She says, "It makes me look younger and feel strong. When I first started, I thought, 'I'll never be good at this. This is a nightmare!' But now it's like brushing my teeth, I just do it."

She Can Sing: Not only can she act and write, Gwyneth has proven that she also has musical chops. In 2011, her appearance as Holly Holliday on the Fox hit show "Glee" earned her an Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series. What started off as a single episode guest role turned into a short-term recurring role in which she sang hits like Cee Lo Green's "Forget You" and a mash-up of "Singin' in the Rain" and Rihanna's "Umbrella." She went on to star in the film "Country Strong," recording several songs for the soundtrack including the title song.
