Recently a few celebs have opened up about the somewhat extreme methods that they rely on to stay slim and trim. So what left Gwyneth Paltrow hallucinating? What did Katy Perry eliminate from her diet to get Vogue-ready? And what leafy green did Jennifer Aniston consume while prepping to play a stripper? Here's a look at what these slender stars recently said about their diets:
Gwyneth Paltrow Goes a Little Crazy During a Cleanse
In a recent Telegraph article, Gwyneth wrote about her love of doing a detox. This year she made headlines by choosing to detox her bod using the Elimination Diet, a super-strict diet plan that called for her to spend three weeks staying away from a long list of foods that included sugar, potatoes, red meat, eggs, wheat, potatoes, coffee, and processed treats. The actress might love detox diets, but she's learned that all cleanses aren't created equal. "I've done juice cleanses in the past, and in my twenties I did the Master Cleanse, which left me hallucinating after 10 days," Gwyneth wrote. Maybe her calorie-restricting cleanse left her seeing dancing donuts and psychedelic steaks.
Katy Perry Cuts Alcohol for Vogue Cover
Even though it's easy enough for magazines to airbrush away bits of belly these days, Katy still felt the need to slim down for her Vogue cover. According to Us Weekly, the pop tart went on her own slightly less restrictive elimination diet by cutting out alcohol for three months and replacing coffee with green tea. "The Smurfs 2" star is also a very big fan of vitamins and supplements, and she's reportedly tried something dubbed "The Mushroom Diet," or "M Plan." It's a two-week diet plan that replaces one meal a day with a special mushroom-filled dish. So how upset will the Smurfs be when they learn that Smurfette has been munching on their healthy little houses?
Jennifer Aniston Grazes on Greens Before Hitting the Stripper Pole
While Katy thinks that fungi are the secret to looking fab, Jen is a firm believer in the health benefits of kale. The former "Friends" star plays a stripper in the movie "We're The Millers," so of course she was concerned about looking lean and mean in her lingerie. According to Access Hollywood, here's what Jen said about her diet and what she ate the day of her stripping scene: "I did eat that day. I was on a very like, you know, greens and vegetables and lean proteins and kale." She also said that she allowed herself "a kale chip" whenever she wanted to have a cheat day. That's right -- Jen considers a singular kale chip to be a cheat treat. Now that's diet dedication.
This isn't the first time Jen has talked about using kale to slim down. Last year she revealed that she drinks a special "Wonder Smoothie" once a week as part of her diet plan. In addition to kale, it contains healthy ingredients like spinach, carrots, beetroot, cucumbers, and celery.
So would you be willing to try any of these restrictive celebrity diets?
