Gwyneth Paltrow

You thought your parents were tough. In the October issue of InStyle magazine 'Pepper Potts' discloses that Tony Stark isn't the only well-to-do part-time Manhattan resident she annoys with her fastidious micromanagement.

Gwyneth disclosed that her eight-year-old daughter Apple has recently become "cross" with her because of the strict television restrictions she enforces at home . "I only let them watch TV in French or Spanish," the "Iron Man" actress explained. A peculiar restriction given that the Los Angeles-born 39-year-old is married to famed British rocker Chris Martin and the couple has had residences in New York City, London, and most recently Brentwood, California --all markets dominated by English-language broadcasting.

However, GP's language restrictions don't stop at television. The "Contagion" star added, "when I'm in France, I go to [Boulevard] Beaumarchais and buy all their cartoons."

She offered no word though on whether or not her children were able to watch her as one of the bilingual hosts of the food and travel series "Spain...on the Road Again." But given all the indulgent eating on the program, we're guessing probably not.

Madonna

Paltrow isn't the only overbearing celebrity parent with addresses on both sides of the Atlantic. During her highly publicized divorce from film director Guy Ritchie, the Daily Mail revealed the rather strict set of rules that the entire family had to abide by in their London home. Restrictions included no television, no newspapers, no unapproved London friends, no dairy, no chipolata sausages, no sugar, no cheeses, no preservatives, and a tightly-controlled strict adherence to the pop diva's macrobiotic diet.

When the paparazzi snapped a few pictures of her 15-year-old daughter, Lourdes, smoking a cigarette outside her New York City high school, the 54-year-old singer was remiss at not having placed tobacco on her list of no-nos. "I don't approve of anyone smoking cigarettes...I don't think I'm as tough as I should be. I think I need to be maybe tougher."

Alicia Silverstone

Energy independence isn't a part of every mother's platform. In March, the 35-year-old "Clueless" star posted a video on her website "The Kind Life" showing her premastication method for weaning 10-month-old Bear Blu off from breast-feeding. After thoroughly pre-chewing the babe's dinner herself, she slowly dribbled the feed into him via mouth-to-mouth . The actress shared some of the learned benefits (curses) of her bird-feeding method, saying "I'd be eating and he would come at me with his little mouth open and be on my mouth trying to get the food out of my mouth."

Mayim Bialik

The former "Blossom" star is not your typical Hollywood celebrity, and not your typical mother. Just as her acting career was beginning to take off, Mayim decided to pursue a Ph.D. in neuroscience from UCLA--studying hormones, bonding, and OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder). As a mother, she has become an advocate for Attachment Parenting . Instead of strollers, she uses a baby-sling. Instead of cribs and separate beds, the entire family practices co-sleeping on the same futon. Instead of diapers, they practice 'elimination communication.' Instead of schooling, the children are encouraged to pursue their own interests.

When "Good Morning America" caught up with the actress this spring she was still nursing her 3-1/2-year-old son Fred. Other house rules include no TV, no fancy dinners, a vegan diet, and no date-nights for the last seven years.

Nadya "Octomom" Suleman

On the other side of the spectrum is Nadya "Octomom" Suleman. After producing a brood of 14 children through assisted reproductive technology, the unemployed media sensation created a domestic environment without rules. After being evicted because her children had completely destroyed the house, the eccentric record-holder made her own porn-video in order to fork over the 8-months of deposit requested by her new landlord before her tyrannical toddlers could take up residence.
