Green Day to Release Three Album Trilogy

It's an epic day to say the least for hardcore Green Day fans.

Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong started the ball rolling this afternoon with a tweet announcing that their hotly-anticipated album has morphed into a mind-blowing three-parter set for release in the winter of 2012/2013.

"Ok. Here's the deal," wrote Armstrong. "We're making a 3 album trilogy. Not 1. Not 2. But 3 albums. Called ¡UNO! ¡DOS! ¡TRE! Coming September November January."

Soon after, an official statement was released by the band, revealing that ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, and ¡Tré! will drop September 25, November 13 and January 15, respectively, and are currently being recorded with longtime producer Rob Cavallo in their hometown of Oakland, Ca.

"We are at the most prolific and creative time in our lives. This is the best music we've ever written, and the songs just keep coming," said the statement. "Instead of making one album, we are making a three album trilogy. Every song has the power and energy that represents Green Day on all emotional levels. We just can't help ourselves... We are going epic as f**k!"
