Antonio "L.A." Reid, Chairman of Island Def Jam Music Group announced today that recording artist Ne-Yo and his Compound Entertainment will join forces with Reid's music label.

The three-time Grammy Award-winner and multi-platinum singer got his start in the music biz as a songwriter. Success came with "Let Me Love You," his 2004 hit song he wrote for Mario. The tune went on to become one of urban radio's most-played songs.

Ne-Yo has also penned songs for Mary J. Blige, Janet Jackson, Leona Lewis, Heather Headley, as well as Rihanna's "Take A Bow," and one of my faves, "Spotlight" by Jennifer Hudson. The musician who grew up in Las Vegas is responsible for two Top Ten hits: "Irreplaceable" by Beyonce and "Unfaithful" by Rihanna.

The agreement calls for Ne-Yo to continue recording under the Island Def Jam label. The singer/songwriter will also recruit new talent to Compound Entertainment. Salt Lake City singer, songwriter, and pianist Loren Allred is the first artist to be signed since the joint venture. She is set to release her first album early next year.

Ne-Yo also has a new release coming out November 23rd titled "Libra Scale" which is a follow-up to 2008's "Year of the Gentleman," one of his best efforts yet. That album went number one on the Soundscan and UK national charts and RIAA platinum. "Year of the Gentleman" solidly set the prolific songwriter up on top of the music industry, garnering five Grammy nominations for 2009. He won the songwriter's award, Best R&B Song and Best Male R&B Performance for smash hit, "Miss Independent."

Imagine this--three RIAA platinum #1 hits spun off that "Year of the Gentleman" album for Ne-Yo. "Miss Independent" topped the U.S. and U.K. R&B charts, "Closer" sat at #1 on the U.S. Dance charts, plus #1 in the U.K., with "Mad" rounding out the three that rested on the R&B charts at #5 in the U.S. and #3 in the U.K.

"Ne-Yo is truly one of the greats, and it has been a privilege to work closely with him, from the early stages of his songwriting career through his extremely successful recording career," stated "L.A." Reid, adding, "We fully anticipate this to be a very successful partnership."

You know "L.A." Reid as a Grammy-winning songwriter, producer, record exec, who along with Kenneth 'Babyface" Edmonds, founded the "LaFace" label back in 1989. He's got an eye for talent and is a hit maker, launching and developing the careers of such mega-stars as Pink, Avril Lavigne, Mariah Carey, Usher, Toni Braxton, Justin Bieber, Dido, TLC, and Outkast, producing stings of #1 tunes and lots of album sales worldwide.

When LaFace merged with Arista, he eventually took over Clive Davis' job as CEO. The hits will continue to churn out with this union of two of song writing's best in the music world today.

Check out ABC-TV's Dancing With The Stars on Oct.5 when Ne-Yo will perform the first single "One In A Million," from the new album, "Libra Scale."
