Golden Globes Fashion: Our Wish List for Repeat Presenters and Nominees

Helen Mirren, Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, Claire Danes, and Nicole Kidman are all making a return trip to …

It's awards season once again, and the Golden Globes are fast approaching! Either as nominees or presenters, a number of leading ladies are making back-to-back trips to the much-anticipated event, and we can't help looking back at what they wore last year while awaiting a glimpse of this year's attire. As the countdown continues to the Golden Globes red carpet, here's a look back at some of last year's looks and our wish list for the upcoming ceremony.

Helen Mirren

For the 2012 ceremony, Mirren was on-hand to present the Cecil B. DeMille Award to fellow actor Morgan Freeman. The 67-year-old star looked positively radiant - and half her age - in her navy blue Badgley Mischka gown which featured a ruffled skirt and diamond-encrusted belt. She'll be back this year as a Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama nominee for her work in "Hitchcock," and we can't wait to see which classically elegant look she goes with this year. Unlike some actresses, Mirren knows what styles and colors suit her best, and she continues to put her best foot forward on the red carpet. Two of our favorites are the red and white George Chakra gown she wore to the 2008 Oscars and the stunning Jacques Azagury dress she donned for the 2007 BAFTAs.

Amy Poehler

"Parks and Recreation" star Amy Poehler is once again nominated in the Best Actress category, and she'll be doing double duty this year by cohosting the event. Last year, the 41-year-old actress looked a bit washed-out in a beaded, nude-colored gown by Naeem Kahn. The shade of the dress competed with both her skin and her blonde locks, and the jewel neckline was not particularly flattering. This year, we'd love to see her in a different color (the dusty blue Max Azria she wore to the 2010 Emmys looked lovely on her), and deeper neckline will help to elongate her neck. Since she'll likely be sporting a number of different looks, given her hosting duties, we're excited to see which ones work the best.

Tina Fey

Like her hosting counterpart Amy Poehler, Tina Fey is a repeat nominee for her role in "30 Rock." For the 2012 awards, our favorite comedienne opted for a strapless burgundy Oscar de la Renta gown with a fitted, ruched bodice, drop waist, and feathered skirt. We love the color, and Fey tends to favor the strapless style, which looks good on her. We're a bit on the fence about the fitted bodice, and the poufy skirt doesn't scream "Tina!" to us, either. Since we're anticipating multiple gowns this year, we'd love to see the 42-year-old relive some aspects of her best-ever looks, like the peplum from her dark blue Carolina Herrera gown she wore to the 2012 Oscars, or the attractive draping on the black Grecian-style Gucci gown she wore to the 2009 Primetime Emmy Awards.

Claire Danes

New mom Claire Danes took home last year's Best Actress award for her performance in the drama "Homeland," and she's nominated in the same category again this year. For her 2012 win, Danes wore a black and white J. Mendel gown with a cut-out back and embellishments at the shoulders and waist. All things being relative (Claire would look good in a paper bag), the overall impression was boxy, angular, and graphic, and her pulled-back hair looked a bit severe. This year, we're hoping to see a softer, more feminine side of the 33-year-old star, perhaps with more muted colors and her usual wavy hair. She looked absolutely spellbinding at the 2010 Emmy Awards in her strapless champagne-colored Armani Prive gown, and the soft pink Calvin Klein halter dress she wore to the 2010 Golden Globes was also a flattering look.

Nicole Kidman

After presenting the award for Best Screenplay in 2012, Nicole Kidman is back this year as a double nominee for her work in the miniseries "Hemingway & Gellhorn" and the comedy "The Paperboy." For last year's walk down the red carpet, the 45-year-old mother of two wore a stunning white Versace dress with a super-fitted bodice, gold stud detailing, and angular lines. Most impressively, the gold in her gown perfectly matched her loose, wavy locks and jewelry, tying the entire look together. One of the best things about Nicole is that she's not afraid to switch up her look, meaning red carpet watchers can never be too sure what to expect. This year, we're crossing our fingers for a smash hit like the crimson-colored Balenciaga she wore to the 2007 Academy Awards, and praying we don't get a dud like her 2011 Dior Oscar gown that resembled a folded dinner napkin.

A few more leading ladies will be gracing the Globes for two consecutive years. Sofia Vergara and Jessica Chastain are nominated again this year, and both ladies look invariably lovely in their awards ceremony attire. Debra Messing and Jessica Alba are presenting for the second year in a row, and Maggie Smith, Meryl Streep, and Kristen Wiig are back this year as well. As the red carpet countdown continues, who are you most excited to see at this year's Golden Globe Awards?
