Golden Globe Nominations Announced! Full List

Rashida Jones, Sofia Vergara, Gerard Butler and Woody Harrelson announced the 2012 Golden Globe nominations early Thursday morning, with big names like George Clooney, Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt dominating the major categories.

The Golden Globe nominations closely mirrored yesterday's Screen Actors Guild nominations, with Viola Davis getting a nod for best lead actress in a motion picture drama for The Help, as well as George Clooney, Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt going head to head in the best actor category for The Descendants, J. Edgar and Moneyball respectively.

Michael Fassbender is also going up against the Hollywood heavyweights in the drama category for his critically acclaimed performance in Shame, as well as Ryan Gosling, who was snubbed at the SAG Awards. Gosling picked up two nominations -- a best actor nod for The Ides of March and a best supporting actor nod for Crazy, Stupid, Love.

Rooney Mara scored a nomination for the highly anticipated The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, but she'll face steep competition with Glenn Close, Viola Davis, Meryl Streep and Tilda Swinton all competing in the lead actress in a motion picture drama category.

On the television side, Modern Family was once again well represented with three nominations total, including best supporting actress and best supporting actor nominations for Sofia Vergara and Eric Stonestreet.

The 2012 Golden Globes, hosted by Ricky Gervais, will air live on NBC January 15.
