The lovely Food Network star Giada De Laurentiis was back on Access Hollywood Live yesterday (her "Toasted Coco Nut Mix" was delicious, BTW) and she always brings an incredible amount of energy - even early in the morning!

I don't know how the busy mom does it, so I asked Giada to spill her beauty secrets!

What are your top 5 Summer Beauty essentials?

"1. Natural Instincts, the conditioner with coconut oil is amazing and helps to give my hair extra shine and moisture! (Giada is a spokesperson for Natural Instincts)

2. Flavored lip balm, like Rosebud Salve

3. Sunscreen is a must!

4. Tweezer Man eyelash curler

5. Chantecaille foundation- I love the light glow it gives my skin."

Since you have a very hands-on job, what are some beauty secrets that you use which are practical, but also give you confidence?

"As a busy mom, I don't have a lot of time to spend on my beauty routine, but in my professional life, I always need to look camera-ready. Confidence - in both your professional and personal life - is so important. That's why I try to keep my beauty regimen simple and easy. My goal is to always to show people, like myself that work in a not-so glamorous industry, how they can be glamorous and confident. Here are my tips:

A little bit of olive oil for your cuticles and nails to keep them shiny (especially on camera!)

Drink lots of water - it's good for your hair, your body and health

A little foundation always goes a long way

Exfoliate! Both your face and body, it does wonders!"

How do you change (if you do) your beauty routine for the Summer?

"I like to keep my beauty routine simple and natural all year-round. This summer, my hair is a lovely medium bronze brown shade. (Hot Cocoa by Clairol Natural Instincts). When it comes to styling my hair, I prefer to work less on my hair (just like nature, why fight it!?) and typically keep it simple with braids."
