How will Gavin DeGraw fare on "Dancing With The Stars."

It's official: When "Dancing with the Stars" season 14 premieres on March 19, singer-songwriter Gavin DeGraw will trade his popular pipes for patent leather as a member of the celebrity cast. Partnered with recently minted "DWTS" season 13 pro champ Karina Smirnoff, the "Not Over You" crooner's chances of glittering glory seem rosy. Here's a look at a handful of musicians whose stars shone brightly during past seasons of the hit realty show.

Season 2. Boy bander Drew Lachey busted out of brother Nick's shadow following his Mirrorball trophy win at the close of the second season of "DWTS." In fact, he and partner Cheryl Burke turned in one of the show's most ingenious --and infamous-- routines in the form of their "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" freestyle. Yee-haw!

Season 4. Former N'Sync star Joey Fatone and partner Kym Johnson fell just a hair short of victory during season four, losing out to Olympian Apolo Anton Ohno and Julianne Hough.

Season 5. Two singers fared well during the fifth installment of "DWTS," one thanks to a legion of committed fans and the other, well, thanks to legit dancing chops. Marie Osmond finished third and left a freaky impression on viewers following her doll-themed freestyle with Jonathan Roberts. Former Spice Girl Mel B and Maksim Chmerkovskiy dominated the season with a strong set of numbers, but fell to second behind banana man Helio Castroneves and Julianne Hough.

Season 7. Another boybander? You betcha. Lance Bass and Lacey Schwimmer ignited the ballroom many a night thanks to their inventive, rule-skirting routines, and earned the bronze for their efforts.

Season 9. The two top spots at the close of season nine went to a pair of musicians. Mya and "So You Think You Can Dance" alum Dmitry Chaplin turned in a succession of sultry, sexy, skin-baring dances that earned them the second place nod. The big winners? Entertainment powerhouse Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson.

Season 10. Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger made it look way too easy as she and partner Derek Hough sailed to victory over their season 10 competitors.

Season 11. R&B songstress Brandy and Maksim Chmerkovskiy started their season of "Dancing with the Stars" slowly, but gradually rose to the top of the judges' leaderboard thanks to the singer's drive and committment. Still, their late surge wasn't enough to send them to the finals, and they wound up finishing a disappointing --but still respectable-- fourth.
