Five Things You May Not Know About Julianne Hough

This week "Rock of Ages" opens with a star-studded cast including "Dancing with the Stars" alum, Julianne Hough. Most people know that Hough won two mirror ball trophies first with Apolo Ohn and then with Helio Castroneves. She left the show to become a country singer and then went on to star in in movies like "Footloose" and "Burlesque." But here are a few things you may not know about the "Rock of Ages" actress.

1. She Performed in the Pop Trio 2B1G

Hough and her brother Derek, also a dancer, moved to London when she was just ten to study ballroom with world-renowned coaches Corky and Shirley Ballas. While there they became friends with their coaches' son Mark and the trio began performing together as 2B1G (2 Boys, 1 Girl) at competitions in the U.S and U.K.

2. She Is a 'Harry Potter' Alum

While living in London studying ballroom dance, Hough and her brother Derek were cast as extras on "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone." She told MTV that she was a member of the Gryffindor house and slipped Dan Radcliffe (aka Harry Potter) a love note to which he never replied.

3. She Is a Two-Time Emmy Nominee

In her second season on "Dancing with the Stars" Hough created a number for herself and partner Helio Castroneves to the song "Para Los Rumberos." It earned her an Outstanding Choreography Emmy nomination in 2008. The following year she and her brother Derek were nominated for the same award together for their dance to "Jive/Great Balls of Fire."

4. She Is a Chart Topping Country Singer

In May of 2008, she released a self-titled album that debuted at #1 on the country charts and #3 on the Billboard 100. The following year she won two Academy of Country Music Awards - one for Top New Female Vocalist and the other for Top New Artist.

5. She Is a Mother of Two

Hough is a mother of two - dogs, that is. Lexi and Harley are her Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. They are prominently featured on her website and on her Facebook page. Lexi and Harley even have their own blogs on which they call Hough "mom."

"Rock of Ages" opens June 15 in theaters nationwide. Check local listings for times and locations.
