Josh Hutcherson is having a really good spring. He's starring in the biggest movie in theaters, "The Hunger Games," he accepted his first award and he makes his debut as a producer when "Detention" hits the screens. Here are five things you need to know about Josh Hutcherson.

Hutcherson Has Southern Roots

Hutcherson was born on October 12, 1992, which makes him a Libra. When he was just four years old he decided he wanted to be an actor, despite the fact that he was practically a baby living in Union, Kentucky. Ultimately Josh's parents moved with him and his brother, Connor, to Los Angeles so he could pursue his career. If you see Hutcherson on the L.A. streets, he supposedly answers to the nicknames JHutch and Hutch.

He Was Working Long Before 'The Kids are Alright'

Hutcherson became a household name when he played Annette Bening and Julianne Moore's son Laser in the Academy Award nominated film "The Kids Are Alright." But by 2010, he'd already had parts in more than 20 movies and TV shows. Whether it was providing a one off appearance on an episode of "ER" or providing the voice for Markl in the American version of "Howl's Moving Castle," Hutcherson was a seasoned pro when he walked onto the "Kids" set.

He's Gone Behind the Camera

On Friday, April 13, Hutcherson's new slasher-flick "Detention" hits the big screen. Not only did he star in the multi-genre movie, but he served as Executive Producer as well. As of now he doesn't have any producing gigs on his slate, but if "Detention" is a hit, it might mean more off-screen moves for the young star.

And the "Nextie" Goes To…

While he hasn't racked up any Golden Globe or Academy Awards nominations yet, RuPaul recently handed Hutcherson his first Nextie at the NewNowNext Awards. Taking home the trophy for Next Mega Star, the "Hunger Games" actor said about the ceremony, "This is awesome. This is the coolest awards show I have ever seen. This is so much better than the Oscars." Considering he said it was the first time he ever accepted an award, he took it in stride. Given his growing popularity, he shouldn't have any trouble living up to the Mega Star status.

He's Totally Crushable

Last month named their 25 Guys to Watch and the competition was tough. Crushable looked far and wide for their list, which included everyone from Internet sensation Keenan Cahill to Hollywood-legacy-turned-rapper Chet Hanks to Olympic swimmer Nathan Adrian. But it was Hutcherson, who jumped 19 spots from his number 20 showing last year, to top the Most Crushable list.'
