Five Reasons Why It's Good to Be Demi Lovato

Demi Lovato had a rough go of it for a few years there. After shooting to fame in the "Camp Rock" movies and moving on to her own show "Sonny with a Chance," her music career exploded. But in 2010 she canceled the remainder of her tour opening up for the Jonas Brothers and checked herself into a facility to treat an eating disorder and a problem with self-injury. But these days Lovato is back on top with a spot on one of the biggest series on TV and hosting a major awards show. Here's a rundown of the five reasons why it's good to be Demi Lovato.

1. Demi Lovato Is Hosting the Teen Choice Awards

Last week it was announced that Lovato had been selected along with "Glee's" Kevin McHale to host the 2012 "Teen Choice Awards." Besides playing ringleader for the extravaganza, Lovato is also up for three awards herself - Choice Summer Song, Choice Love Song and Choice Summer Female Music Star. But she's no stranger to taking home teen's highest honor. In 2011 she won for her single "Skyscraper" and she also was given the Acuvue Inspire Award the same year for her work with Jed Foundation's Love is Louder initiative.

2. Demi Lovato Is a Judge on the Upcoming Season of 'The X Factor'

Perhaps part of the reason she was selected to helm the Teen Choice Awards is for cross promotion. The awards show is being aired on FOX, the same network that broadcasts Lovato's new gig as judge on "The X Factor." This spring Simon Cowell replaced Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul with Lovato and Britney Spears. They both made headlines this week when news broke that they actually left the stage during a performance that was "too painful to watch."

3. Demi Lovato Is in the Middle of a 22-City Tour

And as if all of this work wasn't enough for Lovato, she is in the midst of a 22-city summer tour to support her album "Unbroken." She kicked it off in California in June and winds up in Oregon on September 1. Some of the upcoming stops include Los Angeles, Springfield, Illinois, Essex Junction, Vermont, and Monroe, Washington. She is also bringing along a few different opening acts like Hot Chelle Rae and Owl City.

4. Demi Lovato Was Nominated for an ALMA Award

The teens are not the only group intent on honoring Lovato. She was also named as a nominee this week for an ALMA Award - honoring entertainers who promote a positive portrayal of the Latin community. Lovato is nominated on the category Best Female Music Artist. She is up against some pretty heavy hitters - Gloria Estefan, Jennifer Lopez, Naya Rivera and Esperanza Spalding. Voting is open now on the ALMA website and the ceremony will air on September 21.

5. Demi Lovato Is Turning 20

The singer/actress will say goodbye to being a tormented teenager once and for all next month, when she celebrates her 20th birthday on August 20. She told "Good Morning America" that she plans on marking the big day by having a small dinner with friends.
