Five Bizarre Celebrity Love Notes

Yahoo Contributor Network

The recent unearthing of the late Michael Jackson's bizarre note to ex-wife Lisa Marie Presley is an inside peek into the couple's unusual relationship-- even if it is none of our business.

Exactly how the note-- determined to have been written in the mid-1990s-- got into the hands of a Beverly Hills auction house before Presley requested it be pulled remains a mystery. But perhaps even more befuddling is the text, which speaks to Jackson's insomniac state and is signed off with "Love, Turd." (There's also an inexplicable scratch and sniff portion as well as the sweet sentiment "I'm crazy for you.")

Of course, the King of Pop wasn't the only celebrity to put his love in a letter. Check out these other bizarre celebrity love notes that somehow made their way into the public eye:

Slash to Michelle Young

Before he was the guitarist for the hard rock band Guns N' Roses, Slash was a teenage Casanova named Saul Hudson. His 1979 love note to high school crush Michelle Young contained the 14-year old future rocker's regrets over their breakup (apparently he talked about his guitar too much) and lines like "You look really nice today, you get prettier & prettier every day." The illustrated letter (hand drawn marijuana leaves and funny little men adorn it) is part of a Hard Rock Café memorabilia collection and can be seen here. Michelle Young was later the inspiration behind the G N' R song "My Michelle."

Keith Urban to Nicole Kidman

Country music superstar Keith Urban wears his heart on his album sleeve. The liner notes to his "Get Closer" CD are an intimate love letter to his wife, Nicole Kidman, which talk of him wanting to be a better man for her and telling Kidman that "no one has ever, or will ever, love you as much as I do." Urban even shared his love letter during a 2010 appearance on "The Oprah Winfrey Show." The most bizarre part? He read the letter to Oprah, not Nicole!

Kurt Cobain to Courtney Love

In 1991, the late Nirvana front man penned an acid-soaked love letter to wife Courtney Love, which he had faxed to her from a Sheffield hotel room. The two-page handwritten note detailed Cobain's LSD hallucinations and life on the road. "I'm hallucinating at will, over and over again in this English shoebox with pastel curtains and normal little Victorian lamps and drawers. It's all too normal and impossible to explain," Cobain wrote. "It was morning by the time I fell asleep after talking to you." The original letter-titled "Courtney Love's Breakfast Fax"-- eventually made its way to Christie's auction house. (Cobain told the receptionist who faxed it for him to keep it as a souvenir.)

Elizabeth Taylor to William Pawley

Before Richard Burton and Larry Fortensky, there was William Pawley. A teen Elizabeth Taylor's love letters to her first fiancé were put on auction last year, shortly after the actress's death. In one note, dated May, 1949, a 17-year old Liz wrote: "I've never known this kind of love before-- it's so perfect and complete -- and mature," and "I've never loved anyone in my life before one third as much as I love you and I never will (well, as far as that goes - I'll never love anyone else-- period)." Of course we now know that Liz did go on to love again-- and again and again. A plethora of love letters from former husband Richard Burton were published in the book Furious Love: Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, and the Marriage of the Century, and according to Daily Mail, Taylor was buried with the last letter ever written to her by Burton. The note was sent to her just three days before his sudden death in 1984.

Jim Carrey to Emma Stone

Welcome to the digital age! In 2011 actor Jim Carrey posted a creepy love message to actress Emma Stone on his website-- despite the fact that he's old enough to be her father. According to CBS News, the 49-year old actor later said the video was a joke, but reiterated that everything he said was true. Carrey's message to the 22-year old "The Help" star: "I think you're all the way beautiful, not just pretty but smart and kind hearted… And if I were a lot younger, I would marry you, and we would have chubby little freckle-faced kids. We'd laugh all day long and go camping, play Yahtzee, tell ghost stories by the fire. And the sex..."

Enough said!
