'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie Rumors: Does Emma Watson Want to Play Anatasia Steele?

Emma Watson is one lady who is in the running to play Anastasia Steele.

Who should play the "50 Shades of Grey" film adaptation? It's easily the biggest question of the year among fans of the trilogy - and they're not shy about vocalizing their picks. For lead male Christian Grey, fans have mentioned everyone from Ian Somerhalder to Alexander Skarsgard and even Ryan Gosling.

As for the young and naïve Anastasia Steele? Fans of the series have mentioned a whole slew of young Hollywood starlets, including former "Harry Potter" star Emma Watson.

So, is Watson considering taking on the sexually charged part? Nope! She told Entertainment Weekly that she hasn't heard a thing about it from the Powers That Be.

"There are so many movies you become attached to when I've literally never even received a phone call," she said. "It was the same way with 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo' - I never even saw a script!"

The studio should go with an unknown for both roles, just like Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson were plucked from obscurity to play Bella Swan and Edward Cullen in the "Twilight" series. We're willing to bet money they go that route - and maybe pick someone like Katie Cassidy -- but that hasn't stopped some up-and-coming actresses from openly talking about the job.

Elizabeth Olsen

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's younger sister Elizabeth Olsen is making quite the name for herself in Hollywood. Naturally, this "it girl" status means she's on the shortlist of actresses fans want for the role. But, like Watson, she hasn't read the book or talked to anyone about the role.

Olsen does have a pretty awesome view on the book, though.

All of a sudden, this book has become a sensation because the women reading it haven't had access to this kind of thing before," she said. "I was talking to a guy who was making a joke about it, saying, 'Clearly these women just need to watch porn.' In a way, he's right."

Taylor Swift

We haven't seen Swift mentioned for the role, but it would be perfect for her. Steele is innocent and naïve - and who plays innocent and naïve better than T. Swift? It would definitely change the country singer's "goody goody" personality, though we suspect parents would be up in arms about the casting.

Think about it, movie studios. You're welcome.

Lucy Hale

"Pretty Little Liars" stunner Lucy Hale is one of the few actresses mentioned who has read the books - and she's all about the role.

"I think every girl on the carpet wants to play her. I mean, that would be freaking awesome," she told Celebuzz at the 2012 Movie Awards, adding that she had just finished reading the books.

Nina Dobrev

"Vampire Diaries" star Nina Dobrev tops fans' wish lists, but don't expect the Bulgaria-born beauty to take on the role with her boyfriend and "Diaries" co-star Ian Somerhalder.

I think it would be better [if] either he should get it or I should get it. I know that apparently he's really great for the role, so I hope that he gets it," she said earlier this year.
