Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi like living off the beaten track!

The talk show host and her actress wife are showing off their new digs in the upcoming issue of Elle Decor magazine. The ranch which features eight cabins in Hidden Valley, California, was completely redone by the couple in chic rustic decor.

The couple purchased the property in 2009 as a project for the daytime talker. The "Arrested Development" actress revealed, "I thought it might take Ellen five years to finish the project. And she did it in one. It was shocking!"

With their decision to revamp a rustic ranch as their home, the two stars join a growing collection of stars opting to live off the beaten path. Here are a few of the A-list stars who lay their heads in rustic digs:

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban: The Oscar winner and her country crooner husband split their time between their 36 acre farm outside of Nashville and their 100 acre ranch in Australia. The country lifestyle lets the actress spend private time with their daughters snacking on treats from the garden and enjoying the on-site alpacas.

Hayden Christensen: The "Star Wars" star has skipped the sultry side of Hollywood. Instead he opted to live on a 200 acre farm north of Toronto. The actor has spent the last several years turning the sprawling property into his own rural retreat with hay fields, a small vegetable garden, a couple pigs and a dozen sheep. He told Jimmy Kimmel in 2010, "I don't have Alpacas yet but I've got about a dozen sheep and they just wander around. I have a few bags of wool that are waiting to be tackled."

Reese Witherspoon: The Academy Award-winning actress tied the knot at her rustic ranch in Ojai, California, in 2011. She had purchased the property just outside of Los Angeles in 2008 after it reminded her of her childhood home in Tennessee. Robert Pattinson even reportedly used the ranch as a place to lick his wounds after the Kristen Stewart cheating scandal last year. Despite using the ranch as a refuge for her family for the past few years, the actress put the property up for sale last fall. So far nobody has stepped up to purchase the seven-acre property with a main house, three guest cottages, swimming pool, horse stables, organic garden and mini-petting zoo. She recently slashed the price to a measly $7.25 million!
