Eddie Van Halen recently underwent emergency surgery for a "severe bout of diverticulitis," according to a statement on his band's website that posted Thursday.

According to the statement, no further surgeries are required, and Van Halen, 57, is expected to make a full recovery in 4-6 months. Because of the surgery, however, his band Japanese tour originally planned for November will be rescheduled. "The band looks forward to seeing and playing for their fans in 2013," the statement says.

This is, unfortunately, just the latest health setback for Van Halen, who underwent hip replacement surgery in 1999. A year later, he was diagnosed with tongue cancer and had to have part of his tongue removed in surgery. He was declared cancer-free in 2002. In 2008, he had to postpone four concerts to undergo medical treatment.
