In a somewhat surprising turn of events, all twelve competitors and their partners earned impressive numbers for their very first routine on the dance floor with not one couple scoring below 20.

Opera singer Katherine Jenkins with partner Mark Ballas and actor Jaleel White with partner Kym Johnson emerged as the night's dual frontrunners. Both teams cast an unprecedented spell over the judges, earning a combined score of 26 points (two 9's and an 8) for their respective foxtrots.

Disney star Roshon Fegan and partner Chelsie Hightower found themselves in a four-way tie with singer Gladys Knight and partner Tristan MacManus, soap star Jack Wagner with partner Anna Trebunskaya, and The View co-host Sherri Shepherd with partner Val Chmerkovskiy, each scoring a very respectable 23 points in the first round.

Donald Driver scored 21 points for his Cha-Cha-Cha while Gavin DeGraw, Martina Navratilova and Melissa Gilbert rounded out the bottom three with 20 points each for their routines.

Tune in next Monday for round two of Dancing. The competition will change it up this season, allowing the couples two shots to impress the at-home audience before the elimination round next Tuesday, March 27th.
