Since the "American Idol" video of Nicki Minaj blasting Mariah Carey was leaked, all heck has broken loose. Fans are choosing sides and now Barbara Walters has even entered the arena. The veteran news journalist revealed on "The View" today that she spoke with Mariah about the verbal fight being widely broadcast.

Mariah Says...

Walters reports that Mariah is fearful after Minaj said that if she "had a gun [she] would shoot the b-tch." As a result, Mrs. Nick Cannon "doesn't feel comfortable emotionally" sharing space with the Trinidadian native. After watching the curse-filled video, Barbara's co-hosts appealed to Minaj to keep her fans at bay and prevent violence. When the fight ended Nicki allegedly said, "I love you but we might fight again." Mimi's supposed response? "No, we will not." Nonetheless, Mariah has hired extra security.

Minaj Says...

Roman's alter ego may not have Ms. Walters on speed dial, but she has a pretty powerful social media voice. The pink-haired starlet has unleashed a torrent of tweets against her fellow "Idol" judge. Nicki's fourteen million Twitter followers, the "Barbz," have also sprung to the colorful performer's defense. Nicki, of course, can defend herself. She accuses Mariah of throwing a "pity party."

In a direct hit to Carey, Nicki writes, "All I do is compliment u. That's not enuff? Ur a legend, cheer up. U don't have to run down ur resume or feel intimidated. [sic]" Nicky previously referenced the show's top brass citing, "I guess it hurts 2 have the producers tell u to ur face that Nicki is the best judge we've had since Simon. Awww, poor u. Keep them lies cmn. [sic]" Minaj appears to be referring to the alleged gun threat against Carey. A common twitter sentiment seems to be that Mariah wants Nicki fired so that she will be the show's only woman at the judging table. The irate hip hop star also retweeted a super-fan's vicious insult on the matter. @Naz_Minaj writes, "Trying to be the only female on the panel, how f-ing pathetic."

The Real Deal

With so many singing competitions out there, this open feud may be the best publicity "Idol" has ever had. All of the top musical shows have celebrity judges. Now, if fans are trying to choose between "X Factor" with Simon Cowell, Demi Lovato and Britney Spears, "The Voice" with Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera and "American Idol" with the biggest princess fight ever, "Idol" may be the clear winner.

If you haven't seen the controversial video, the "Pink Friday" rapper unleashes a torrent of profanities and insults on Ms. Carey. Meanwhile Keith Urban and Randy Jackson seem to be trying to stay out of the fray. Previously, the talent show's team insisted that the two mega divas were getting along. Now, it has become a matter of "she said, she said."

So, do the fighting songstresses make you more or less likely to watch? Are you Team Minaj or Team Mariah?
