Did Kim Kardashian Use the White House Correspondents’ Dinner to Expand Her Empire?

Yahoo Contributor Network

Kim Kardashian certainly had a night to remember at the 2012 White House Correspondent's Dinner, and attending the event might even help her with some of her future ventures.

Kim obviously put a lot of thought into making a good impression at the dinner - she opted to wear a green velvet dress that wasn't too sexy or revealing, and she didn't bring Kanye West as her date. Perhaps the reality show star realized that her presence was already annoying enough to Barack Obama and didn't want to offend him further by bringing someone he has labeled a "jackass" twice to the event. Maybe she was also afraid that Kanye would interrupt Jimmy Kimmel at some point to say, "Yo Jimmy, I'm really happy for you and I'mma let you finish, but Stephen Colbert was the best White House Correspondents' Dinner host of all time. OF ALL TIME."

Kim brought her mother Kris Jenner as her date instead, so she was either trying to show everyone how important family is to her, or Kris whined and reminded Kim that she wouldn't be where she is today without her momager until she agreed to take her.

Kris was probably feeling extremely proud of her daughter when President Obama mentioned her name. The POTUS pretended to have yet another hot mike moment and said, "I'm the President of the United States, and I'm opening for Jimmy Kimmel? Why am I telling knock-knock jokes to Kim Kardashian? What is she famous for, anyway?" Kimmel also cracked wise about the Kardashians, pointing out that they only had one show when Obama took office, and now they've got four. He also called her the "greatest threat to America."

While it must have been exciting to have the president talk about her, it wasn't Obama that Kim was most excited about seeing - she later said that the highlight of the night was meeting Martha Stewart for the first time. Maybe Kim talked to her about doing her own "Kardashian Living" domestic arts show -- Kim could teach everyone her home decorating and entertaining tricks by revealing how she shops and hires people to do everything for her.

Kim also got to meet "Modern Family" beauty Sofia Vergara, who she could have quizzed about life as a sitcom star. Kim is reportedly developing her own sitcom, which will probably be about a socialite who gets everything she wants in life - except love. Sofia almost makes the perfect woman for Kim to model herself after since they're both famous for their curves and exotic looks -- except Sofia is actually funny.

If the sitcom thing doesn't pan out, Kim can always pursue her dream of becoming the mayor of Glendale. Of course she just had to talk about her political aspirations at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, revealing that she really is thinking about running. Sadly Barack Obama probably won't put in a good word for her, and even failed presidential candidate Rick Santorum was more interested in Lindsay Lohan than Kim.

So stay tuned to see if Kim made any connections at the event that will help her become a sitcom star, homemaking guru, or a politician. If her White House networking failed, at least Kanye can always help her get her rapping career going.
