Despite 'Uproar' Radcliffe Wouldn't Do '50 Shades'

After Fifty Shades of Grey fans recently threw a massive hissy fit culminating in a petition to "un-cast" Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson (suggesting they be replaced by Matt Bomer and Alexis Bledel) in the film based on the erotically-charged E. L. James novel, Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe is now weighing in on whether he would consider the role.

"I literally had someone say to me for the first time today, 'The world's in uproar you're not playing Christian Grey,'" the 24-year-old Radcliffe told MTV News on the sidelines of the Toronto International Film Festival. "And I'm like, 'If this is uproar, it's inaudible.' I think there was approximately no people wanting me to play Christian Grey, including myself," he added.

The star -- who is no stranger to stripping down for a role after appeared totally nude during one scene of the stage play Equus -- said that even if there had been interest in him playing the film's main character Christian Grey, he doesn't think it would be good for his career. "I have to say, no offense to anybody, I'm sure they're going to do a great job on the movie, but it's not something that I think of would have been a good next step for me."
