Last night, the "Dancing With the Stars" results show featured performances by Jason Derulo, Emeli Sande, and a Macy's Stars of Dance Performance by Derek Hough and Jaimie Goodwin. The results show also provided us with an unexpectedly "shocking" bottom 3, designed to stir up some drama in an otherwise predictable season.

Derek Defies Gravity

Derek and Jaimie gave a quirky gravity-defying Macy's Stars of Dance performance. The rotating cube made it look like they were climbing on the walls and ceilings.

For this performance, Derek had the unique challenge of not only having to choreograph the dance, but also having to choreograph the room. I'm continually impressed by his ability to creatively think outside the box (or rather inside the box, as this routine appeared to be). So much fun!

"Shocking" Bottom 3

So far this season, the results have been relatively predictable, with contestants going home in the expected order.

So why not mix it up with an "unexpected" bottom 3?

Despite landing near the bottom of the leaderboard this week, Ingo Rademacher and Kym Johnson were the first to be called safe. I'm thinking that this could hurt them next week. Usually, when a contestant lands in the bottom 2 or 3, it motivates the fans to vote harder to save them.

This week, Kellie Pickler and Derek divided the panel with a Hades-themed paso doble that earned 10s from Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli, but a 7 from Len Goodman. So the producers inexplicably decided to put them in the bottom 3. Really? Are we supposed to believe that Kellie and Derek were actually in danger?

The bottom 2 spot went to Jacoby Jones and Karina Smirnoff. Of course, Brooke Burke Charvet had to make it clear that this was not necessarily the real bottom 2. Did anyone really expect Jacoby to go home? He's a charismatic football player with a loud mother. Of course he's sticking around!

Also returning next week are Zendaya and Val Chmerkovskiy, and Aly Raisman and Mark Ballas.

'Fleming Co' & Other Dance Styles

Fans used Twitter to choose next week's dance styles for the contestants. The results?

Kellie & Derek - Flamenco

Ingo & Kym - Charleston

Zendaya & Val - Hip Hop

Sean & Peta - Disco

Aly & Mark - Afro Jazz

Jacoby & Karina - Lindy Hop

In the interviews, Kellie made a running joke about not being able to pronounce "flamenco." She kept referring to it as "Fleming Co." Really? She's been pulling that clueless country girl shtick since "American Idol" season 5.

Sean Becomes Likable Again

It's funny how some reality show contestants become more likable once they're voted off. The same thing happened to Kellie during her original run on "Idol." After a painful rendition of "Unchained Melody," Kellie was sent packing. However, she went onto have a great career as a country singer.

Sean seemed like such a gentleman during his run on "Bachelor," but he came across as a bit of a tool on "Dancing." However, now that he's been voted off, he's starting to remind me of that "nice normal guy from Dallas" again. Funny how that works!
