Denise Richards and Richie Sambora split because of Charlie Sheen
Charlie Sheen could be “winning” once again. Just days after he said in a Rolling Stone interview that he wanted to sleep with his ex-wife Denise Richards again, she’s now single. The “Wild Things” actress split from Richie Sambora just moments before she hit the red carpet solo for the CMT Awards after the couple had a massive blowout over her relationship with her ex-husband. The Bon Jovi guitarist was supposed to present an award on stage, but after the fight with Richards he hopped on a plane back to Los Angeles and never made it the Nashville event, according to Celebuzz.
Before he left, the fighting between him and Richards, 41, was apparently so bad – and loud – that fellow guests at the five-star Hermitage Hotel called the front desk to complain because Sambora, 52, was “screaming obscenities at the top of his lungs” inside their ninth floor suite. A source adds that Sambora, who went to rehab for alcoholism in June 2007 (one month after he and Richards split the first time), was upset about Richards’ close friendship with Sheen. “It’s over,” reveals an insider. “They had an epic argument and Denise told Richie she couldn’t continue the relationship any longer.” The two had rekindled the romance in late 2011 and even enjoyed a family vacation in Hawaii with her three kids and his 14-year-old daughter, Ava, with Heather Locklear.
In Sheen’s RS interview, he reportedly got “misty-eyed” when talking about Richards, the mother of his two daughters Sam, 8, and Lola, 7. He admitted that it can be “tough” when they spend time together with their girls because he still wants to be with her intimately. “Do I want to? Yeah!” he said. “Does she? Don’t know.” But Richards did have nice things to say about her ex. Despite their vicious divorce in March 2005 (she claimed he had made death threats against her), "He and I are like best friends now," she told the magazine. "Confidants. He tells me everything."
