Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman are calling it quits after thirty years together.

Over the years, it's become almost passe when a celebrity couple breaks up. This is due in large part to the fact that Hollywood couples seem to have a shorter lifespan than relationships started outside the harsh glare of the spotlight. But when a couple that's been together for more than three decades splits, it always turns heads. Actors Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman have just announced their separation from each other, their rep confirmed to "Entertainment Tonight."

DeVito has seen a career resurgence since he started work on the bawdy FX comedy, "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," but he and Perlman are actually quite successful as a producing pair, their company having a hand in films like "Pulp Fiction" and "Get Shorty." Though it's certainly not as common, there have been some other rather notable breakups of long-lasting Tinseltown couplings, and here are a few.

Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins - Sarandon and Robbins were just about perfect for each other. Both are extremely politically active and both are Oscar winners. They got together in 1986, and though they never officially tied the knot, when they broke up in 2009 it seemed to come out of left field and may have shell-shocked the entertainment community a little. The couple had two kids together, Jack and Miles.

Morgan Freeman and Myrna Colle-Lee - Twenty-six years is a long time for any marriage to last before a divorce, in Hollywood years, that's a lifetime. In 2010, the golden voiced Freeman and his wife split. The drama of the divorce took a turn for the bizarre when rumors started floating around that Freeman was divorcing Myrna because he was in love with his step-granddaughter from his first wife. Freeman has vehemently denied those reports and the issue seems to have been cleared up for good.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver -

Arnold and Maria seemed to be a power-couple made in heaven. He was the top action film star and she was a top journalist who also happened to be related to the most powerful family in American political history, the Kennedy family. So when Schwarzenegger won the governorship of California, it seemed like the logical next step for them. Unfortunately, last year after news broke of an old affair that produced a child, Arnold was forced to admit to the affair, and he and Maria split up. He's been opening up about the whole ordeal on various talk and news shows in support of his book, "Total Recall."
