Cynthia Nixon Goes Bald

Cynthia Nixon Goes Bald

Cynthia Nixon debuted a shocking new look this morning on Live! With Kelly -- though she's always kept her hair short, the Sex and the City actress went completely bald to play a poetry professor with terminal cancer in a Broadway production of Wit.

"I was always kind of curious to see what it would be like," Nixon told Kelly Ripa and guest host Mary J. Blige. "I like it."

And it turns out being bald is not as low-maintenance as one might think.

"I have to shave it every day!," she laughed. "It's got kind of a five o'clock shadow, and you don't want to go on with that."

Coincidentally, in other Nixon news making the Internet rounds this morning, comedian Sandra Bernhard recently dished to Howard Stern that she was actually offered the part of Miranda on SATC first -- and she isn't shy about talking about why she turned down the now-famous role.

Turns out aside from a "terrible" original script and what she deemed a low salary ($7,500 a week), she just couldn't stomach the thought of working under Sarah Jessica Parker.

"To play third, fourth fiddle to Sarah Jessica Parker and put up with her sh**? ... It would have been hideous to work with her," Bernhard said. "Ask any of those ladies on that show. I don't think anyone gets along [with Sarah Jessica Parker]."

Ouch.

Though with the staggering success of SATC, something tells me SJP isn't exactly crying into her Manolo's.
