Christopher Evan Welch Dead: Rubicon Actor Dies at 48

Another star gone too soon. Christopher Evan Welch, perhaps best known for his role on AMC's Rubicon, has died in Southern California. He was just 48 years old.

His family announced the news in a statement on Wednesday, Dec. 11, nine days after his Dec. 2 death in Santa Monica. He had been battling lung cancer.

Born in Dallas, Welch made his Broadway debut in 1997 in the play London Assurance. He was a seasoned theater actor and received an Obie Award in 2000 for his performance in A Streetcar Named Desire.

On television, he had guest roles on The Sopranos, The Good Wife, and The Practice, and had a regular role on the spy drama Rubicon. He also appeared in movies including The Stepford Wives, The Interpreter, The Good Shepherd, and Vicky Cristina Barcelona (as the narrator of the film).

Welch is survived by his wife, Emma; their daughter, June; and his parents and two siblings.
