Chaz Bono is heading back to high school! The transgender activist has landed a guest spot on Degrassi: The Next Generation, People reports.

Bono will appear as himself, playing a celebrity guest judge at Degrassi's Battle of the Bands in an episode scheduled to air this fall. He will have a scene with Adam Torres (Jordan Todosey), a transgender character who has suffered bullying after coming out.

"I work with a transgender teen support group that is part of the organization Transforming Family, so when the opportunity to be part of a series that features a trans teen came up, I was thrilled," Bono says.

Bono began his own gender transition in mid-2008 and became the first transgender contestant on Dancing with the Stars on its 13th season.

Bono isn't the first celebrity to play himself on Degrassi. Director Kevin Smith had a prominent story arc in the fourth season and also appeared in the made-for-TV movie Degrassi Goes Hollywood.
