OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Musicians from across the nation are taking the stage in Oklahoma City for a tornado relief benefit concert.
Country music star and Oklahoma native Blake Shelton kicked off Wednesday night's "Healing in the Heartland: Relief Benefit Concert" with a version of his song "God Gave Me You."
Other stars performing include Miranda Lambert, Vince Gill, Reba McEntire, Usher and Rascal Flatts.
The televised event is expected to include recorded video pleas from Oklahoma native Garth Brooks and his wife, Trisha Yearwood, Moore native Toby Keith, Ellen Degeneres and Jay Leno.
The money raised through the telethon will go directly to the United Way of Central Oklahoma. It will distribute funding agencies helping in tornado relief and recovery efforts.
