Celebs React to James Gandolfini's Sudden Death at 51

Fans were shocked Wednesday night when "The Sopranos" star James Gandolfini died in Italy from a suspected heart attack. He was 51.

The "gentle giant" was loved by many in Hollywood -- and dozens of them took to Twitter to express their grief over his untimely death.

David Chase

"He was a genius," David Chase, creator of "The Sopranos," said in a statement. "He is one of the greatest actors of this or any time. A great deal of that genius resided in those sad eyes. I remember telling him many times, 'You don't get it. You're like Mozart.'"

Edie Falco

"I am shocked and devastated by Jim's passing," his "Sopranos" wife said in a statement. "He was a man of tremendous depth and sensitivity, with a kindness and generosity beyond words. I consider myself very lucky to have spent 10 years as his close colleague."

Olivia Wilde

"James Gandolfini was a kind, funny, wonderful guy. I'm so lucky to have worked with him. Sending love to his family. Such a sad, sad day," the actress tweeted.
